God's Little Surprises

We had our sonogram yesterday to find out how far along we are: seven weeks, our due date is February 18.  We also saw something we did not expect: two babies.
After praying for a child for over two years, suffering a miscarriage, traveling the road to Kyrgyzstan for five months, God gives us twins.  We are completely shocked and we feel very blessed. But we are also extremely sad. Prior to the sonogram we prayed about and felt peace about having two babies. We simply thought we would travel to Kyrgyzstan to get one of them.  We do not feel peace about having three infants at the same time.  And so, as much as it grieves our hearts to do so, we feel that we need to delay the arrival of our Kyrgyzstan baby for a little while.  We are experiencing many extreme emotions right now (especially with a double helping of pregnancy hormone) and we ask for your prayers as we learn more about what God has in store for our family. Please pray for a continued healthy pregnancy and two healthy babies.
We wish all of you still on the journey continued blessings and speedy Fedex packages.  I still want to hear about all the goings on with international adoption and about each of your journeys.  I will be very sad not to be traveling with you.

I can understand your mixed feelings right now. I know you must be thrilled with the pregnancy, concerned about the extra challanges presented and greiving the plans you had so close before you. Please do not feel a door has closed. Unfortunately, there will always be orphans in desperate need of a family. Your journey has taken a dramatic but incredible turn. And it is the twists and turns that create the adventure in life and you are embarking on one now.
Surely there will be a child waiting to join your family later if that is still a calling for you when you are ready to explore that again.
I hope you are able to bounce back soon and bask in this beautiful gift. He has answered a prayer, it is just not the answer you were expecting it to be.

I second Lisa's thoughts. Just because you may feel led to stop the adoption train right now doesn't mean that it might not be right again later. You never know what God has in store! So excited for you and the twins!

I hope you're doing well and adjusted to your new family direction more and more everyday. I wanna see a ticker counting down the days till your twins arrive and hear all about the names you are considering!
Bets wishes!!!

That is absolutely AMAZING!! I know you are sad, but as people have said before, this doesn't have to be the end. You were in this process for a reason. Whether it's to encourage others, talk to someone about it in the future, or to continue the adoption later, it was not all for nothing. Good luck with those twins!
